Huachuma is the native peruvian name for the Echinopsis pachanoi (syn. Trichocereus pachanoi), which is also known across the world as the San Pedro cactus.
The “Spirit of Huachuma” was considered to be the Father, the Mother, the all mighty. Ceremonial use of the San Pedro Cactus was sacred to the Chavin ancients, who built monolithic structures for the Shaman to conduct ceremonies and pay respect to the spirit of huachuma.
