Spook' - Mutant Cactus

We’ve never seen a plant like ‘Spook’. And being a monstrose hybrid, with genetics directly linked to the legendary Echinopsis Pachanoi, it’s a fair chance we’ll never see another plant like it.

That’s the reason we choose to Celebrate Ugly and to promote the rarest of the rare, one of a kind Monstrose Cactus.

There’s a lot going on in this plant. Beautiful swirling crests that stay close and low, flanking a tall classic monstrose (almost veiny) figure-like growth.

So why ‘Spook’? Look closely and that upright crest arm looks a lot like a kid wearing a sheet, pretending to be a ghost. Maybe it’s just us, but we swear the Spirit of Huachuma is alive and well inside ‘Spook’.

Genetics

Torres & Torres x Olivia
The Torres & Torres Pachanoi clone is said to have been discovered in northern Chile, while Olivia is also a Pachanoi clone, with strong monstrose tendencies.

Notes

Spook is a very healthy and happy mutant. It was grown as a graft on Pereskiopsis Spathulata here in Australia by one of our country’s best growers. It is a de-graft, with a fully developed root system. It’s ready to be planted in a big pot, and will love full sun and good water.

Growing process

Grafting is the art of taking two cacti and grafting them together to create a new and unique plant. The ‘scion’ is the grafting stock (the plant that will transfer its growth to the new plant). The graft is the new plant, which has been grafted onto the scion. Grafting takes a lot of skill to create a happy healthy plant, care to keep it growing on the root stock and then more skill and care to detach the graft (degraft) and then ‘root’ the plants, so it has it’s own root stock.
